The Doula Foundation Academy is a statewide leader in the training and certification of birth and postpartum doulas, as well as perinatal community health workers. We offer a flexible, hybrid certification program designed to meet individuals where they are—whether you’re just starting out, already working in maternal health, or seeking to expand your skills.

Our customized approach allows us to recognize prior training and professional experience. We work closely with each participant to develop a personalized training pathway that aligns with their background, goals, and schedule—removing barriers to education and certification, and ultimately improving maternal health outcomes for families across Missouri.

What We Offer:

Hybrid Training Model: Our curriculum blends online and in-person instruction led by certified instructors across Missouri and national leaders in maternal health.
Customized Certification Pathways: We accept previous training for certain modules and work with each individual to identify what’s needed to complete their certification.
Specialized Postpartum Care Focus: Our program emphasizes the critical need for continued support through the first 12 months postpartum—an often overlooked yet vital period.
Mentorship & Real-World Support: Training includes mentorship and hands-on guidance to prepare doulas and perinatal health workers to serve effectively in diverse communities.
Core Competency Training for Medicaid Eligibility: We are an approved training organization through Missouri MoHealthNet and a trusted training partner of the Missouri Doula Association. Certified doulas can complete individual or multiple required competencies with us to become Missouri Medicaid-eligible.
